Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and his son, actor Abhishek Bachchan, announced in separate tweets Saturday that they have tested positive for Covid-19 and have been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai with “mild symptoms”. Both of them are undergoing treatment at Nanavati Hospital, with an official confirming that they had “facilitated their tests” and that the two are “stable”.Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said all other Bachchan family members have tested negative in rapid antigen tests.
Fresh infections crossed 27,000 for the first time, the third record high in daily numbers in the past three days. Total Covid-19 infections in India rose to 8,20,916, as per health ministry data. The death toll stands at 22,123.
